ng blocks once again as the much anticipated Fifth Annual Mouse Race will take over the Phillips County Event Center Friday, July 18.
For the first time, this year’s fundraising event is presented by the Holyoke Wrestling Club in partnership with the Holyoke Swim Team. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the two groups, which includes participants who are ages 4-18 and include teams that travel extensively.
Tickets for the event must be pre-purchased and are available from a Wrestling Club board member or any Swim Team parent. Tickets are available for individual purchase or for tables of six, eight or 10. The price of the tickets will cover the all-you-can-eat-and-drink dinner and entrance fee.
For those in attendance who are at least 21 years of age, there will also be a beer garden.
A happy hour is planned for 5-6 p.m. to start the night’s activities. A hearty cajun boil dinner catered by Allen Strong (Nebrado) will follow at 6 p.m.
Prior to the start of racing action, a biography of each mouse will be read. The mice will then go to auction, with the winning bidders renaming their prized racers.
As mice race down the wooden course, those in attendance looking to add a little extra excitement to the evening will be able to partake in paramutual betting.
