Holyoke volleyball locks down regional host site

The Holyoke volleyball team has been named the eighth seed in the Class 2A postseason and will host games Saturday.

The Dragons (13-10) will host #17 Hoehne and #29 Addenbrooke Classical Academy. Games will begin at 11 a.m. with Holyoke playing Addenbrooke Classical Academy.

Holyoke Head Coach Irene Ortega said the team has talked about the postseason being a clean slate. A state tournament berth will come down to mental toughness, doing the little things and consistency, Ortega said.

Having the Holyoke crowd behind the Dragons will be important. “Hopefully we have a strong crowd to help the girls stay hyped and the momentum to move forward,” Ortega added. Wiggins earned the number one seed overall and will host  Olathe and Calhan.

Sedgwick County is the second seed and will host Crowley County and West Grand. The third seed went to Meeker who will host Mancos and Heritage Christian.

Fourth seeded Fowler will host Hayden and Cedaredge. As the fifth seed, Strasburg will host Gilpin County and Valley.
