|City hires summer coaches|

Four baseball and two softball summer coaches were hired by Holyoke City Council at their Tuesday, May 17 meeting.
Kyle Bules, Bret Miles, Trevor Dalton and Logan Tharp will help coach baseball while Ashley Clayton and Katie Hoffner will coach softball.
Theresa Tharp said there are four baseball teams and one softball team this summer. The coaches will work together to coach the teams. She also noted a group of parents have come together to coach T-ball teams.
Council member David Churchwell said he thinks the kids will look up to Dalton and Tharp as coaches as they have seen them play on the baseball field.
Code enforcement discussed
Councilman Brian Akey said he has received some complaints from people about the number of dandelions around town as well as some privacy issues.
Akey said some people have said the enforcement officer has been peeking over fences. City Supt. Mark Brown who supervises the position said he hasn’t received any complaints and also said peeking over fences shouldn’t be an issue. “Code enforcement has a right to enter upon private property anyway,” Brown added.
Akey said he thinks the enforcement officer is doing a good job but wanted to bring these issues to the council’s attention.
“It’s a catch 22,” Brown said. “Under the code we have the right to enter upon property.”
Council members agreed anyone with issues may present them at council meetings.
