Dragon 135-lb. wrestler Skyler Dittmer earned Outstanding Wrestler honors at the Chase County, Neb. Invitational in Imperial, Neb. Saturday, Jan. 15.

Fourteen teams competed in the tournament which featured both an A and B bracket.

Coach Jack Garrison said the HHS team wrestled well.

Dittmer, as well as teammates Mark Edmonds at 125 lbs. and Broc Pelle at 171 represented the Dragons in the A tourney, with all three going to the finals.

Dittmer and Edmonds finished as champions, while Pelle took second. Dittmer earned a come-from-behind win in the finals to take the match 10-8. Edmonds won a 4-0 championship match, and Pelle dropped a close 12-14 decision.

Chadron won the A tourney with 146 points, followed by Cambridge 109, Garden County 90, Bridgeport 86, Ogallala 86, Chase County 69, Holyoke 60.5, North Platte St. Pats 60, Sidney 57, Perkins County 44, Hershey 34, Hitchcock County/Wauneta/Palisade 30, Dundy County/Stratton 23 and Wray 3.

Six Dragons also competed in the B team tourney. Jesus Hermosillo won the 215 lb. division. Ben Martinez at 140 lbs. and Astolfo Rojo at 189 both earned a match win in the tourney.

This Saturday, Jan. 22, the Dragons will compete in the highly competitive Lexington, Neb. Invite. A and B brackets will again be featured in the day’s action.

Jan. 15 match results

Individual results from the Chase County Invitational follow:

A tourney 125 lbs.­—Mark Edmonds placed first. He had a quick pin in :18 over Elkanah Riley of Ogallala to start the tourney, pinned Romario Puraco-Diaz of Wray in 1:35 and won a 4-0 decision over Drew Curtis of Chase County.

A tourney 135 lbs.—Skyler Dittmer placed first. He won a 17-0 tech fall over Dylan Folchert of Ogallala, won a 12-1 major decision over Aksel Wiseman of Hershey and won a 10-8 decision over Chance Bila of Chadron.

A tourney 171 lbs.—Broc Pelle placed second. He pinned Blake Smith of Bridgeport in 1:33, pinned Logan Huxoll of Cambridge in :41 and lost a disappointing 12-14 decision to Bryce Davis of Garden County.

B tourney 140 lbs.—Ben Martinez pinned Drew Thalken of North Platte St. Pat’s in 3:35, was pinned in 5:49 by James Garcia of Ogallala and lost a 1-9 decision to Mark Hanson of Perkins County.

B tourney 145 lbs.—Leo Ortiz was pinned in 1:52 by Cory Engler of McCook and was pinned in 1:54 by Trevor Lewin of Chadron.

B tourney 152 lbs.—Spencer Kotch was pinned in 1:11 by Cole Wilbourn of North Platte St. Pat’s and was pinned in 1:58 by Aaron Yauney of Dundy County/Stratton to place fourth.

B tourney 189 lbs.—Astolfo Rojo was pinned in 3:27 by John Prante of Perkins County, pinned Trevor Buchanan of Wray in 1:40 and lost a 2-15 major decision to Trevor Jensen of Dundy County/Stratton.

B tourney 215 lbs.—Jesus Hermosillo placed first. He earned a first-round bye and then pinned Trevor Gleason of McCook in 3:28.

B tourney 285 lbs.—Perry Garrett was pinned in :20 by Mitch Collicott of McCook and was pinned in 2:34 by Curt Lewin of Chadron to place fourth.
