In weekend basketball action, Holyoke jayvee girls landed a close two-point win in Merino Friday, Jan. 14 but were defeated by Wray at home Saturday, Jan. 15.

 

Holyoke JV 27, Merino 25

HHS started off strong in first-quarter action Friday, ending the period with a 14-2 lead over Merino. The Rams dominated the second quarter, coming back to tie the game at halftime.

Scores stayed close in the second half, but the Lady Dragons claimed a 27-25 victory over Merino in the end.

Erin Vieselmeyer led Dragon scoring with eight points followed by Maddie King seven, Marissa Chambers four, Tia Huffman three, KrisAnna Ham and Audi Peña two apiece and Jordan Bernard one.

 

Holyoke JV 24, Wray 53

The JV team suffered a disappointing 24-53 loss against Wray on Saturday.

Wray outscored the Dragons in three of the four quarters, and their big 21-point score in the second period established a strong lead that Holyoke was not able to challenge.

Top scorer for HHS was Chambers with six points followed by King five, Molly Brandt and Ham four apiece, Peña and Emma Adams two apiece and Chandler Gerk one.
