Two authors, Stephen Wood and Todd Burpo, will be in Holyoke Saturday, Dec. 11 at formal book signing opportunities at Inklings Book Store’s Christmas tea.
Former Holyoke resident Stephen Wood will be at Inklings from 9 a.m.-12 noon, signing his book “Building Our Dream in Remote Colorado.”
Imperial, Neb. resident Todd Burpo will be on hand from 1-3 p.m. to sign “Heaven is for Real.”
Wood, of Badger Creek near Buena Vista, tells of his experiences as he brought his family to the Colorado “wilderness” in 1971. The book relates a number of trials and tribulations, as well as triumphs, as they build their home “off the grid.”
Burpo’s book tells of his son Colton’s near-death experience in 2003, when he slipped from consciousnes during surgery and then, over a period of time, begins telling his parents of his visit to heaven. Colton was 4 years old in 2003 and was having surgery for a burst appendix.
Burpo is pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial.
For his next book, Wood is seeking interviews with people from this area who experienced the March 1977 Blizzard. He’ll be scheduling appointments while in Holyoke this weekend.
Inklings Book Store is located at 221 N. Interocean Ave. in Holyoke.
