Those frequenting the Phillips County Fair this year will be given the opportunity to try their luck at a number of different carnival-style games.
The Phillips County Fair Board has been busy putting together nine different games to be featured at the fair Thursday-Saturday, July 29-31.
Fair board member Ranae McCallum said games will include a duck pond, darts, baseball toss, basketball, football toss, wheel of fortune, goblet toss, ring toss and plinko. Prizes will be up for grabs at each booth.
Area businesses and nonprofit groups have come together to supply materials to help build the games, built the games themselves or pitched in money to help build them. They have also supplied prizes to be won.
The games will be manned by different organizations over the three days and those groups will receive a portion of the profit. The remaining money will go to the fair board.
McCallum noted they are still looking for two more groups to help run games during the fair.
The game booths will be open 6-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, or until they run out of prizes on Saturday.
McCallum said they are planning to place the booths between the north side of the Event Center and the west side of the Methodist Church food stand.
