Sprague boys advance to Disney World PDF Print E-mail

Having the opportunity to go to Disney World is every kid’s dream, but to go to Disney World with the chance of winning $52,000 is a little higher up on the wish list.

For Sprague brothers Gage, age 6 and Alec, 7 of Holyoke, the trip is locked up, now they wait anxiously to actually go.

The sons of Emma and Alan Sprague of Holyoke recently spent a day in Denver auditioning for a Kravers Corn Puff commercial in front of Disney talent scouts.

Emma was in Sterling Friday, Feb. 5 when she heard a commercial for the auditions. She sent in photographs of the kids and the following Tuesday received a phone call notifying her Gage and Alec had been chosen. Out of the 1,191 applicants, 266 were chosen.

The auditions took place Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver. Before arriving, the boys learned lines for the commercial.

The talent scout interviewing the boys was famous for the movies Legally Blonde and James Bond 007, Sprague said. The scout judging their commercial auditions was from the ICarly show.

According to Emma, Gage nailed the audition with a surprise John Travolta move in the end. As for Alec, she said it pretty much comes naturally to him. “My kids love the camera, and that’s why we thought to give them a chance,” she added.

An e-mail was received Sunday, Feb. 14 notifying the Spragues both boys were chosen for a spot at the Disney talent show in Orlando, Fla. in July at the Swan Lake Resort at Walt Disney World.

They will be working with stars from ICarly, Unfabulous, High School Musical and many other Disney cast members for three days, and then a talent show will follow.

The talent show will be performed in front of and judged by 250 talent scouts. Gage will compete in commercial and model while Alec will try his hand at one-liners and comedic act. The acts are split into separate age groups.

Emma said the entire family plans to attend the event July 6-11. They will be planning fund raisers to fund the entire trip, which won’t be cheap. She said they have had a lot of support from friends and family over the last week.

Gage and Alec have three other siblings, Luke 4, Emma Marie 3 and Mason 2.
