Master Chorale to perform Sunday PDF Print E-mail

The “Eighteenth Noel,” a Christmas Concert, will be performed by the Master Chorale under the direction of Don Johnson, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Dorothy Corsberg Theater, Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

For this concert the Master Chorale has included the Northern Colorado Children’s Chorale, Sterling High School Singers and Instrumentalists, piano students of Mary Smith and Elsie Fetzer and guest soloist Sarah L. Davis.

The Master Chorale will open with “Do You Hear What I Hear?” It will be followed by “All For A Baby,” “Let Carols Ring,” “Beautiful December” performed by the women of the Chorale, “Three Kings of Orient” featuring Clark L. Scriven and Bill Van Pelt, soloists, “Not Only For Christmas,” “There is Faint Music,” “The Christmas Song” and “Feliz Navidad” performed by the men of the Chorale. Sterling High School instrumentalists will join with the Chorale in “Rockin’ Jerusalem,” “Baby Born a King” and “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen.”

At intermission the Hospice of the Plains Tree of Lights will have a presentation.

The second half will open with a piano quartet playing “A Scott Joplin Rag Rhapsody” featuring Sharayah Kutchar, Anna Nielsen, Emma Parrish and Fontagne Stutzman. “O Holy Night” will be performed by special guest soloist, Sarah L. Davis. The Northern Colorado Children’s Chorale will sing “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” and “Santa’s Choir.”

The Master Chorale will join the Northern Colorado Children’s Chorale and Sterling High School Singers to sing “Silent Night,” featuring Sam Edgar, violin, and “Away in a Manger.”

The Master Chorale will continue with “Carol of the Bells,” “Bethlehem, Bethlehem,” “Follow That Star” featuring Annette Bowin, soloist, “Sir Christmas” with organ, brass quintet and timpani, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” with brass quartet, timpani and piano. The Chorale will close with “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.”

Tickets for the performance may be purchased at KC’s Music & Electronics, Key Bank, Master Chorale members, Larry at 522-1015, Rita at 522-5427 or at the door the day of the performance. Students under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
