The drought in 1940 was broken by a 4-inch rain in June. Northeast Colorado, through which the Frenchman Creek winds its way, was the scene of a flood as waters from downpours of rain June 6-7 surged down the creek, overflowed the banks and inundated hundreds of acres of farmland.
