Smorgasbord brings in over $7,000

Through ticket sales and generous donations, the Music Parents’ annual smorgasbord fundraiser brought in $7,758 for the local school music program.
Students sold around 850 tickets in addition to 50 sold at the door for the Thursday, Feb. 22, meal at Holyoke Elementary School.
Top ticket seller was sixth-grader Isaiah Rueter. Earning second-place honors was fifth-grader Luis Perez.
Proceeds from the smorgasbord will help with scholarships for graduating seniors, the honor band event held in Holyoke, music purchases, new equipment and formal attire for music students.
Following the meal, attendees were treated to a free music concert at the Holyoke High School auditorium.
HHS Sound Check performed “Livin’ on a Prayer” with soloists Brenna Sullivan, Drew Stewart, Amy Mackay and Tyler Lamm; “Inscription of Hope” with narrator Luke Krogmeier; and “Soon Ah Will be Done” with soloist Anthony Rojo.
The high school choir sang “Like the Beat of a Drum,” “Dust in the Wind” and “Better Place.”
