S.C.O.R.E. camp set for June 10-14

    S.C.O.R.E. camp coordinators Kim Spady and Charlesa Kline are finishing up plans for the science camp in Chase County, Nebraska, this summer.
    The camp, held every other year, stands for Science Camps Offer Rewarding Experiences.
    “[The camp] is designed to promote educational and exciting programs, and activities that stimulate young scientists and inspire them through hands-on experiences in a variety of Chase County settings,” Kline said.
    This year’s camp will take place June 10-14.
    “There are only a few spots available,” Kline said. “Register soon to guarantee a spot.”
    
Donations
    The Imperial Jaycees choose recipients for six S.C.O.R.E. scholarships. Funds for those scholarships were accepted by Spady and Kline the week of April 29.
    “We appreciate the Jaycees’ continuous generosity to S.C.O.R.E.,” Kline said. “The vision for S.C.O.R.E. is for the students to be engaged in hands on science learning opportunities, and the Imperial Jaycees made that happen for these students.”
    
‘Star Spangled’ camp
    Students attending this summer’s camp, with a theme of “Star Spangled Science,” are registered from numerous area communities along with Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Louisiana.
    There are more than 65 sessions finalized with instructors from Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Edgerton Explorit Center, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, NTV, University of Nebraska-Kearney, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Upper Republican NRD, Pheasants Forever, Wildlife Encounters, local teachers and community members.
