School retreat set for Feb. 10

Holyoke School District Re-1J will hold a board retreat Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke.

A brief board meeting will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the retreat, with an executive session for the informal superintendent evaluation to close the evening agenda.

The superintendent’s report on the meeting agenda includes first semester random drug testing and an update on the gym renovation.

Substitute list additions will be approved, and the board will discuss a date for meetings in March to coordinate with construction meetings.

The school calendar for 2021-22 will be a major discussion topic in the retreat. As part of the conversation, the board will review the survey on the topic that was completed recently by parents, students and staff.

Other retreat topics are ideas for recruitment/retainment of staff, certified staff salaries, energy performance project and the Building Excellent Schools Today project.
