School district says thank you with interactive open house

As a way of saying thank you to the community for passing the mill levy override in last November’s election, Holyoke School District hosted an open house Thursday evening, March 5.

Two new minibuses recently purchased by the district greeted attendees as they entered both the elementary and JR/SR high. Inside, they were treated to technology demonstrations, tips on how to engage kids in learning activities at home, art displays, project showcases, a book fair and refreshments.

Holyoke School District’s mill levy override extended a 7-mill override another five years to expire after collection year 2025. The money collected was intended to fund, among other things:

— Maintenance of existing facilities.

— Quality instructional and informational technology.

— Current instructional supplies and materials.

— Safe and reliable transportation fleet.

— Attracting and retaining qualified teachers and staff.
