JR/SR high students rewarded for academics

Academic achievement was applauded Monday, May 7, when students in Holyoke JR/SR High were recognized for excellence in the classroom during the 2017-18 school year.
National Honor Society members hosted and conducted the ceremony in the HHS auditorium.
NHS vice president Bailey Hamaker welcomed those attending, and chapter members opened the program by introducing staff members with a brief bio for each of them.
Maury Kramer represented vocal music director Marcia Dalton to recognize Dominique Penzing with the National Choral Award. Neither Dalton nor Penzing were present due to the regional golf tournament held that day.
At the close of the program, the new NHS officers for 2018-19 were announced as follows: Alex Vieselmeyer, president; Brenna Sullivan, vice president; Kaylee Camblin, secretary; Emma Roll, treasurer; and Savannah Burris, Student Council representative.
