FBLA members compete for spot at state

Forty-eight Future Business Leaders of America from Holyoke High School attended District 4 awards, listened to a keynote speaker and attended workshops Thursday, Feb. 4, to find out who would qualify for state FBLA competition.

The day began with open ceremonies conducted by state officer Tanley Andersen from Haxtun. Keynote speaker Aric Jackson motivated the members with his encouragement to live well and lead boldly.

Two Holyoke members, Kylie Purkeypile, Colorado state vice president of education, and Jimena Nunez, District 4 officer, conducted workshops and helped announce winners of events.

Students qualifying for state FBLA in April with their placing from Thursday’s districts include:

— First place: Ethan Schneller, accounting I; Cade Killin, business calculations and business law; Johny Quintana, business communication; Aleida Millan, computer applications and introduction to business presentation; Gage Sprague, cyber security; Erin Andersen and Adison Goldenstein, graphic design; Jadon Frost, introduction to business procedures; and Clover Adler, Word processing.
