Energy savings changes, construction, gym renovation — all in progress soon

Much action can be seen in Holyoke School District this month with lighting change-outs for the energy savings project, start-up of the big gym renovation and planning for the Building Excellent Schools Today project.

Progress on all three was reported at the Jan. 19 meeting of the Holyoke School Board.

Superintendent Kyle Stumpf told the board that the energy savings project involving lighting started Jan. 18. In a three-day window, lights were changed in both gyms at the JR/SR high, as well as the elementary school gym. A remarkable change in brightness was acknowledged.

While here with their boom truck, they also replaced LED fixtures on the elementary playground and completed some change-outs in the bus barn area.

Stumpf said the crew will return in February to handle the light changes in hallways and classrooms, and to finish up at the bus barn.
