100 Mile Club launches

Holyoke schools will soon be joining a nationwide program to encourage daily physical activity. The 100 Mile Club will be an opportunity for students, parents and community members to walk, run or jog with the goal of logging 100 miles during the school year.
Allie Balog, a teacher at HHS and one of the organizers of Holyoke’s club, emphasized that anyone can participate, and they hope to see people of all ages join in the challenge.
The club will kick off with Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Then the following week, starting Oct. 10, there will be morning and afternoon practices every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the track. Scott Dille, another teacher and club sponsor, will lead morning practices from 7:20-7:50 a.m., and Balog will lead practices after school from 3:45-4:15 p.m.
