For 2019, here are a few new introductions to try in your vegetable garden. For the All-American Selections 2019 edible winners, here are the following:
    — Red Torch: This is among the trendy striped tomatoes. It is very prolific and an early-season producer. It takes 60-70 days for the vines to produce fruit from transplanting date. This tomato is a striped oblong about 1.5 inches long, and it weighs about 1.5 ounces. The tomato has a great flavor.
    — Tomato Fire Fly F1: The fruits are pale white to pale yellow, round and less than 1 inch in size, weighing about half an ounce. The skins of this fruit offer a mild acid flavor that enhances the sweet taste. The tomato plants are indeterminate and grow to 5 or 6 feet. They have good disease resistance.
    — Tomato Sparky XSL F1: This is one of the few extended shelf life cherry tomatoes available to home gardeners. Besides a longer shelf life, these plants handle environmental stresses such as heat and harsh growing conditions well.
    — Tomato Chef’s Choice Black F1: This is a black beefsteak type tomato with a green/brown/black hue. The fruits are grown on a 5-foot indeterminate vine and yield 8-ounce tomatoes. This plant is disease-resistant with dark green leaves and well-behaved form. The plants can produce up to 30 or more fruits.
    — Just Sweet Pepper F1: These produce 3-inch fruits that are sweet for snacking. The plants are up to 36 inches tall and 15 inches wide. The Just Sweet Peppers have a vivid yellow color with a flavor described as sweet with aromatic accents.
