Nancy Coleman

Nancy Elaine Coleman was born March 1, 1939, to John Robert and Bernice P. (Heimer) Ferguson in Holyoke. She died July 11, 2022, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke at the age of 83.

Following her high school education, Nancy went to college for two years at Ozark Christian College and later at the University of Northern Colorado. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.

Nancy taught elementary school in North Platte, Nebraska, for two years, then Jefferson County for three years, and she completed her teaching career at Holyoke Elementary School.

Nancy loved fashion and traveling, but most of all her faith was very important to her. She enjoyed attending the First Christian Church and loved being a part of the church choir. She loved being a grandmother to Olivia, Ava and Aidan.

Her father was an avid sports fan along with being a baseball pitcher, therefore Nancy and Lois loved sports. Nancy was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.

Nancy loved a fresh green salad including lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and onions.

Nancy was robbed of some of life’s pleasure due to some health issues. She was diagnosed with rheumatic fever when she was 5 years old, and as an adult she had lived with multiple sclerosis for over 40 years, spending the last 14 years at the Regent Park long-term care facility in Holyoke.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bernice Ferguson.

She is survived by her son, Zorn and wife Karyn Coleman, and grandchildren, Olivia, Ava and Aidan Coleman, all of Schereville, Indiana; sister, Lois Dillon and husband Jim of Longmont; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held July 15 at First Christian Church in Holyoke, with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Interment followed at the Holyoke Cemetery.

Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
