Linda Diane (Morgan) Law, 73, died Jan. 27, 2018, in Haxtun, peacefully, but unexpectedly, after ongoing health issues. She was born Oct. 2, 1944, to Herman Morgan and Carrie (Sheehan) Morgan in Denver.
Linda married Steve McKay in 1963, and together they had two children: Scott and Jeff. Following a divorce, Linda later married John Durbin, and from this union, two children were born: John and Jonetta. In 1978, Lu, as many referred to her, moved to Sedgwick from Denver with her husband John and their four children. John and Linda later divorced. In 1981, Linda married Harold Law, and they remained together until his death in 2000.
Linda held many positions within the community, mostly involving service to others. Enhancing the lives of others was one of her true passions. Linda enjoyed her home in Sedgwick until 2013, when on-going health issues prompted her to move closer to family members in Haxtun.
Some of Linda’s greatest joys included the Sedgwick Fall Festival, spending time at RD’s with friends, attending family gatherings, watching the Denver Broncos and dancing at the Sedgwick Fall Festival street dance. Linda loved to dance, and dance she did.
Lu was an incredible individual who loved life, her friends and especially her family. Her children were her pride and joy, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an incredible blessing to her.
Although Linda loved to entertain, she was happiest when her grandchildren were near, and especially when she could talk them into spending the night. Her grandchildren always loved being at Grandma Linda’s. She was the best cook, the most fun, and had the least amount of rules — actually, probably no rules.
Not only did Linda take great delight in spending time with family and friends, she also loved cooking for them and was known for her famous green chili and spaghetti.
Linda was a devout Christian and always encouraged her family to “treat others as you would want them to treat you.” She gave thanks to the Lord daily. Her Bible was always near. Linda was an active member in the community and will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Linda is survived by her son, Scott (Durbin) McKay and fiancée Robin Wiita, and his son, Benjamin McKay, all of Seattle, Washington; son, Jeff Durbin and wife Tamara, and their children, Jayden, Brandon, Hailey and Christopher Durbin, all of Haxtun; son, John Durbin and wife Kelly, and their son, Austin Durbin, all of Holyoke, and other children, Billy and Alyshia (Durbin) Sauer and their children, William, Kyah, Zoey, Savannah and Avery, all of Stratton, Lucas and Brittany (Durbin) Dirks and their children, Sadie and Carson, all of Holyoke, and Christa Durbin of Stratton; daughter, Jonetta (Durbin) Anderson and husband Jared, and their children, Lane, Madison, Braden, Jacob and Emily Anderson, all of Haxtun; brother, Carl Morgan; sisters, Sheila Rubin, Sharon Arter and Mary Berg; extended family, including special nephew Dr. Joe Lovato of Denver; and numerous loving relatives and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Carrie (Sheehan) Morgan; husband, Harold Law; granddaughter, Sydney Morgan Durbin, daughter of Jeff and Tamara Durbin; sister, Donna Lovato; and brother, Danny Morgan.
