Kristie Jean Pelle of Holyoke was born July 1, 1958, in York, Nebraska, to Donald and Mary (Burhoop) Brackhan. She died Dec. 5, 2021, in Loveland at age 63.

Kristie worked at Holyoke Elementary School as a special education interventionist. She worked at the district for 19 years. She started Kristie’s Katering from her home kitchen in the late ’90s, which allowed her to share her passion for cooking and baking with the people around her. Kristie took over Donmar’s from her parents, now known as Blisties, which later grew to be a landmark in the town.

Kristie was a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church as well as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years and served on the board of education as well as other committees.

She lived her life for her family, especially her grandchildren. They were her world. Kristie loved to bake, cook, crochet blankets for her grandkids, golf and be surrounded by the ones she loved.

Kristie graduated from Holyoke High School in 1976 and then graduated from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. Later on in life she went back to obtain her elementary education degree and graduated from Colorado Christian University.

She lived her life in service to others through the church, the school and her everyday activities. Kristie was selfless in every aspect of her life. She had a smile that could brighten any room and encouraging words for anyone she came across. Her lifelong dream was to experience life as a grandma, and that dream came true with the birth of her four grandchildren.

Kristie is survived by her daughter, Chasity Shaffer and husband Landon of Holyoke; son, Broc Pelle and wife Heather of Holyoke; brother, Brad Brackhan and wife Sherri of Holyoke; sister, Misty Hielscher and husband Gordon of Holyoke; niece, Nicole Moore and husband Jared of Longmont; nephews, Ryan Brackhan and wife Jill, and Remington, Dylan and Cooper Hielscher, all of Holyoke; grandchildren, Hailey and Tyson Pelle and Barrett and Sawyer Shaffer; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Kristie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Brackhan; her grandparents; and a number of aunts and uncles.

The funeral service was held Dec. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke, with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating. Interment followed at Holyoke Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Kristie Pelle Memorial.

Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
