Jim Comer

    James “Jim” Comer Jr. was born Jan. 20, 1935, to James Comer Sr. and Ella (Bauer) Comer in Brule, Nebraska. He died Dec. 11, 2018, at the age of 83, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood.
    Jim went to school in Brule, both grade school and high school, all 12 years. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-58. He served in Korea as an engineer equipment mechanic.
    Jim married Rosie (Sanders) Comer on March 23, 1968, in Denver. Jim and Rosie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past March and renewed their vows at the Catholic Church in Holyoke, along with an open house of family and friends.
    Jim owned and operated his own business, “Comer Electric,” for 40 years. He was an avid Denver Broncos and Nuggets fan. He loved to golf and travel. He enjoyed playing games with his family and friends.
    Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ella Comer; son, Dan Comer; and sister, Maxine Kipp, and brother-in-law, Joe Kipp.
    Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosie; daughter, Debby Banaka and husband Jerry of Holyoke; son, Erv Comer and wife Melanie of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband Brent Shannon of Hawley, Minnesota, Larry Banaka of Sterling, Christina Banaka of Holyoke, Megan Comer of Denver and Miles Comer of Queen Creek; great-grandchildren, Lili and Lucy Vasquez of Holyoke and Lexus and Juniper Banaka of Sterling; sisters, Mary Lou Crews and husband Paul of Brule and Lois Schuett of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, Kenny Comer and wife Fran of Brule; special daughter-in-law, Janice Comer; special sister-in-law, Betty Lanckriet; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    The rosary was held Dec. 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke. The memorial service was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Jerry Rohr officiating. Inurnment was set to follow at Julesburg Cemetery at 1 p.m.
