Florence Crown
Florence Mabel Crown was born to Russell and Iola Blanch (Christensen) McFadden on July 17, 1925, in Kirwin, Kansas. Florence died Aug. 12, 2018, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Nebraska. She was 93 years of age.
She grew up in the Kirwin community and graduated from Kirwin High School. She was united in marriage to Thaine Crown on Jan. 1, 1946, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union, five children were born. They settled first in Beattie, Kansas, and eventually made a home in Imperial.
Florence worked as a nurse’s aide for 35 years at Chase County Community Hospital and also helped Thaine with the groundskeeping at the Imperial Country Club. She was a proud and active member of the VFW Post No. 4688 Auxiliary in Imperial. Florence enjoyed golf, cooking, gardening, traveling, needlework, reading and crossword puzzles, and she loved her pets, especially Miss Willie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thaine.
Survivors include her daughters, June Hoover of Phillipsburg, Judy and Larry Richardson of Garden City, Kansas, and Jennifer and Steve Smith of Eastsound, Washington; sons, Thaine and Cha Suk Crown Jr. of Chandler, Arizona, and Jim and Sharon Crown of Brady, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Wilma McDowell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, with Pastor Alex Gerbert and Randy Hayes officiating. Interment was set to follow the services at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
There was no visitation; it was Florence’s wish for the casket to remain closed before and during services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
