Bob Andrew

Robert “Bob” Emery Andrew died Oct. 6, 2018. Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Cook, Nebraska, he was the youngest of six children who grew up in Holyoke.
He served in World War II as a merchant mariner from 1944-1946 and traveled the world before marrying Janet Irene Killham on March 26, 1948, in Brighton to begin their 70-plus years of marriage.
From Sidney, Nebraska, they moved their two young daughters (Rea J. Andrew and Lyn R. Rodgers) to Portland, Oregon, where their family grew to include six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, to whom he was devoted and of whom he was immensely proud.
Bob was an active and generous community member: a 33rd Degree Mason-Shriner, serving in all offices of the Blue Lodge including senior warden, a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church and the moderator of the Men’s Forum of Newberg/Dundee for 10 years.
He delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years, ran a paper and cardboard collection route to support Fish for 10 years, and gave blood all his adult life to receive a national honor in 2016 for 358 pints (over 40 gallons) of donated blood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
He is missed but held close in the hearts and memories of those who knew him and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to an Alzheimer’s organization or the American Red Cross. Contact FamilyOfBobAndrew@gmail.com.
The memorial service was held Oct. 20 at Macy and Son Funeral Directors in McMinnville, Oregon.
