Betty Landstrom

Betty Jean (Kreitman) Landstrom was born Jan. 26, 1933, to Ralph William and Dorothy Erma Katherine (Bridges) Kreitman in Madison, Nebraska. She died Sept. 24, 2019, at her home in Haxtun.

Betty married Lawrence Edward Landstrom Jr., and to this union two children were born: David Eugene Landstrom and wife Sarah and Diane Marie (Landstrom) Ulmer and husband Denny. Betty had four grandchildren, Steve Adam Landstrom, Travis Leigh Allen, Trevor Edward Allen and wife Brandy, and Tennille Marie Allen. There were 14 great-grandchildren, Marcus, Mychaela, Maelakai, Maxwell, Violet, Amberly, Valarie, Trenton, Daphani, Troidon, Bella, Gracie, Levi and Deacon, and one great-great-grandson, Barrett Brown.

Betty worked for Northwestern Bell as a long-distance telephone operator for 15 years in Omaha, Nebraska, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Pierre, South Dakota. She then went to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Topeka, Kansas, and worked for Sprint United Telephone Company in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, as a business office service representative until she retired in 1994.

After she retired, she moved to Haxtun in 1994. During her retirement, she taught herself to oil paint. She painted a lot of pictures. She entered several of her paintings in the Haxtun Corn Festival and won a blue ribbon on one.

The funeral service was held Sept. 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Haxtun, with Pastor Richard von Steinman officiating. Interment followed at the Haxtun Cemetery.

Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
