HPD engages in pursuit

On Saturday, June 3, at approximately 11:30 p.m., an officer of the Holyoke Police Department attempted to stop a white pickup truck near the intersection of Interocean Avenue and Furry Street. The vehicle turned south on Baxter Avenue. A vehicle pursuit of the vehicle was initiated by Holyoke Police Department, which continued southbound. The pickup was traveling south on Baxter Avenue.

The officers were able to identify the driver, William Derrick Riley of Holyoke. Riley has a revoked driver’s license and is a Habitual Traffic Offender. The pursuit went down South Baxter Avenue at approximately 30 mph. Officers performed a tactical vehicle intervention at the intersection of Baxter Avenue and Kellogg Street. As a result, the white pickup tried to turn out of it and then struck a parked vehicle. Riley then fled on foot and barricaded into a residence. After a short stand off with officers of the Holyoke Police Department and Haxtun Police Department, Riley came out and was placed under arrest without any force used.
