Daylight saving time begins Sunday

Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. 

Residents are reminded to “spring forward” and set their clocks ahead one hour Saturday night, March 11.

 

School spring break begins Monday

Holyoke School District Re-1J will get a week off for spring break, which begins Monday, March 13. School resumes Monday, March 20.

Shop Local Day is Friday, March 10

Holyoke FBLA students Jimena Nuñez, Hannah Lindholm and Fatima Nuñez are planning a Shop Local Day for their American Enterprise project. A free hamburger and hot dog meal will be offered at noon on Friday, March 10, outside the Phillips County Court House.

The endeavor seeks to bring local people out for a day of shopping in Holyoke the afternoon of March 10. Several local businesses will offer special sales that day to draw in customers.

Soccer registration is due March 15

The City of Holyoke Recreation Department’s soccer program is right around the corner, and registration is now open. Pre-registration is required to be completed by Wednesday, March 15. 

The online registation form, which needs to be filled out for each athlete, can be found on the City of Holyoke Recreation’s Facebook page.
