200-yard freestyle relay team qualifies for state swim
Competing in Berthoud against Wellington, Holyoke High School’s swim team qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle relay Jan. 26. The relay team consisted of Addie Goldenstein, Aly Lock, Summer Martin and Tayla Martin, who clocked a first-place time of 1:54.83.
Last week’s meet was the final regular-season event. This Thursday and Friday, Feb. 2-3, swimmers will compete at conference at the Mountain View Aquatic Center in Loveland. Prelims begin Thursday at 3 p.m. The top 16 finishers in each event advance to the finals on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The following weekend is the state swim meet.
In addition to the state-qualifying relay, Holyoke celebrated several other victories against Wellington as well.
Tayla earned first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.45. She also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:26.31. Goldenstein won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:39.68. She finished third with a time of 1:15.14 in the 100-yard butterfly.
