Dragons hit the road as gym repairs continue

What should have been a week with a three-game home stand for the Holyoke girls basketball team turned into a week with three road trips in five days as repairs continue to in the school’s gym.

The week opened with a trip to Grant, Nebraska to take on Perkins County Jan. 24.

Holyoke freshmen did their part offensively in the first half. Anessa Colglazier, Ellie Kleve and Courtlyn Kinnie scored 12 of the Dragons’ first 15 points.

As others got in on the act, Holyoke gave PCS everything it wanted in the third quarter.  After trailing 15-31 at halftime, the Dragons cut Perkins County’s lead to 30-39 with a minute left in the third quarter.

But the Dragons’ offensive struggles returned in the fourth quarter of the 35-58 loss.

Audrey Talavera led the Dragons with 10 points. Colglazier added nine points, four blocks and eight rebounds.
