Tom Tuell

Thomas Tuell, formerly of Holyoke, died peacefully on April 22, 2022, in Grand Junction, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Tom was born March 9, 1937, in Wray to William and Edna Tuell. He was the second of six sons.

Tom was active in 4-H and FFA and graduated from Eckley High School before going to Colorado State University. As an Aggie, he was active on the livestock judging team, rodeo team, FarmHouse fraternity and ROTC. After graduating, he served in the Army.

He then returned to Colorado to start his lifelong career in the agriculture industry, first as a feedlot manager, then as a licensed real estate broker, and later as a rancher and cattle feeder. He was a part-owner and founder of Schramm Feedlot and a feeder for Coleman Natural Beef.

Tom married Janet Nelson, and they were kept busy raising their four children who were active in 4-H, school and athletics.

Tom was an active member of The Institute of Agricultural Management, which took him to tour farms in countries around the world.

Tom is survived by his former wife, Janet Nelson; son, Todd Tuell; daughters, Deanna Hofer, Tracy Schroth and Tricia Knack; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at the Eaton Area Community Center, 1675 3rd St., Eaton, CO 80615.
