Students of the month

Students of the Month for October at Holyoke JR/SR High School have been named. They are senior Kenneth Lindholm, nominated by business teacher Lori Nelson and a fellow student, and seventh grader Sahamara Morales Flores, nominated by science teacher Hannah Peterson.

The nomination letter for Lindholm from Nelson read, “When I think of the model student that all other students should strive to be, I think of Kenneth Lindholm.

“Kenneth displays positive attributes in every aspect that I feel is important as a student and as a human being, including ethics, good grades, kindness, respect, responsibility and more.

“Kenneth has almost a perfect 4.0. He is ALWAYS kind to others and shows respect for his peers and adults. Kenneth has shown responsibility inside and outside the classroom: he is actively involved in drama and FBLA. In fact, he even placed at National FBLA this summer.

“I have seen Kenneth help other students on multiple occasions. He is someone we all can trust to do what is right.

“I honestly feel there are few that are as deserving as Kenneth to receive Student of the Month.”

The nomination letter for Lindholm from his fellow student read, “He helps his classmates when they need it, he does everything he is told to do. He keeps his grades up and works hard to get things finished. Even when he isn’t feeling the best he does what he can, he has school as one of his top priorities. He respects everyone. He demonstrates amazing RISE behavior and that is why he should be student of the month.”

Morales Flores’ letter read, “At the beginning of the year Sahamara did not speak any English. Last week she went above and beyond in a group presentation. She read two paragraphs out loud in English in front of the class. She has made so much progress and she always tries her hardest. In her body system redesign group, she added so many good ideas and led her group to come to the conclusion that they should redesign the digestive system with no appendix.”
