FCCLA shines bright at annual recognition

On Tuesday, April 27, Holyoke High School FCCLA members celebrated a great year at their annual recognition program.

The statewide theme was “Hollywood, Walk the Red,” and the 20 Holyoke members thanked parents and community leaders for helping them shine bright and walk down the red carpet this year.

Amid such a crazy year, adviser Karen Ortner said, “Our chapter has persevered, and — dare I say — thrived,” noting membership has grown and new activities were launched even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ortner honored senior LorenJo Oberle with the Member of the Year Award as well as an award for four years of participation in FCCLA.

The Holyoke FCCLA Senior ROSE Scholarship was awarded to Rylee Oakley, and FCCLA Leadership Scholarships were presented to Amy Mackay and Oberle. Oberle was also the scholarship recipient of the Colorado State FCCLA Promise Award.
