11 qualify for national FBLA

Forty Holyoke High School FBLA members and four adviser/chaperones traveled to Colorado Springs for state FBLA on April 17-19.

The conference was originally planned at the Gaylord Rockies Resort near Denver but had to be modified due to COVID-19.

While at their hotel, students enjoyed watching the state FBLA opening session, which included HHS senior Kylie Purkeypile, Colorado state vice president of education, presenting multiple awards.

Holyoke was proud to receive Peak V recognition, the highest level awarded in Colorado FBLA.

Three students were also recognized for achieving the Future Award: Ethan Schneller, Jimena Nuñez and Tayla Martin.

Students went to the Denver Zoo, Rockies vs. Mets baseball game and the Cave of the Winds.

Prior to travel, all students took tests and recorded presentations for a virtual competition to qualify for nationals.

Members attended a watch party last week in the Holyoke High School commons area for the announcement of competition winners at the state level.
