Victoria Baeza wins county’s 4th grade essay contest
Jolly Dozen FCE Club recently announced the winners of the Phillips County fourth grade essay contest held by the National Association for Family & Community Education.
First place was awarded to Holyoke’s Victoria Baeza. Raia Sprague of Holyoke won second place, and Haxtun’s Baron Starkebaum placed third.
Along with prizes for the winners, Jolly Dozen representatives Peggy Davis and Marianne Sullivan presented books to all fourth grade students in Holyoke and Haxtun.
This year’s essay contest theme was responsibility, one of the six pillars of character.
