Students of the Month

Sponsored by Holyoke Chamber of Commerce

Students of the Month for November at Holyoke JR/SR High School have been named. They are freshman Jessie Owens, nominated by vo-ag teacher Shauna Strecker, and eighth grader Leah Struckmeyer, nominated by music teacher Marcia Dalton.

The nomination letter for Owens read, “Jessie Owens demonstrated RISE behavior in the month of November when she assisted me by building 4 Adirondack chairs on her own time because she knew they needed done for Bryan Kroeger’s benefit dinner and we would be on virtual learning. She was never asked, but took the initiative herself to do this. This shows the character she possesses. Jessie always is willing to help me with anything that is needed and is extremely dependable. She is deserving of this award.”

Struckmeyer’s letter read, “Leah continually demonstrates outstanding R.I.S.E behavior in Junior High Chorus. She helps me on Chorus days by helping take attendance as well as serving breakfast. This helps me out so much!! She always has the best attitude and participates to a very high degree. She is always willing to help me out in any capacity during class and I appreciate it so very much!! Good job Leah!!”
