Music changes lives

Choir, band concert celebrates Music in Our Schools Month

March is Music in Our Schools Month, and this year’s theme is “Music Changes Lives.” That concept was certainly evident in a Tuesday, March 3, concert that featured musicians from Holyoke School District.

Choirs were directed by Marcia Dalton, along with Maury Kramer for Sound Check, and bands were led by director Aaron Cottam. Martha Kinnie was the piano accompanist for the concert.

The HHS auditorium stage was filled with Sound Check vocalists for “The Greatest Show” featuring soloist Kenneth Lindholm and choreography by Karina Davis, “You Will Be Found” with narrator Max Kleve and soloists Mason Vernon and Jimena Nuñez, and “The Sweetest Song I Know” featuring soloist Kylie Purkeypile.

Selections performed by the high school choir included “Rise” featuring soloist Ashlyn Marcum and “How Can I Keep from Singing” with soloists Levi Ford, Jalen Hunter, Rylee Oakley and Lauren Bergner.
