    Janet Lorraine Howard, 81, died March 19, 2019, in Comanche, Texas. She was born July 11, 1937, in Holyoke, the second of five daughters, to Glen and Winnie Kepler Alberts.
    Janet grew up and attended school in Holyoke and worked at the Dairy King with her mother and sisters. She had lived in Glen Elder, Kansas, until moving to Lyndon, Kansas, in 1967.
    Janet was a homemaker and mother until starting to work for Cook Construction Company in Glen Elder at the Waconda Lake. After moving to Lyndon, she then worked for both Cook Construction and Neosho Construction during the building of Melvern Lake. She worked several years for Ned Hiatt’s RV Sales near Vassar, Kansas.
    Janet was a founding member of the Lyndon United Methodist Preschool, where she worked as an assistant teacher for 12 years. Many children in the community knew her as “Grandma Janet.” For the last five years, she had been a full-time RVer and camp host at lakes in Texas and Kansas. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church and the UMW.
    On Sept. 16, 1956, Janet married Robert Railsback in Holyoke. They divorced on Jan. 29, 1979. On Feb. 29, 1980, Janet married her best friend, Wayne Howard, in Burlington.
    Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Winnie; sister, Glenna Alberts; grandson, Christopher Railsback; and three nephews.
    Janet is survived by her husband of 39 years, Wayne; daughter, Barbara and Gary Schattak of Lyndon; son, Burton Railsback of Reading, Kansas; three sisters, Carolyn and Dan Loughman of Wichita, Kansas, Cheryl and Joe Jacklovich of Wichita, and Lynette Schneider of Lakewood; four grandchildren, Keith and Andrea Schattak of Lyndon, Kristy and Vince Stark of Osage City, Kansas, Matthew and Allison Railsback of Mankato, Kansas, and Allison Railsback; four great-grandchildren, Abby and Michael Stark, Isabella Toman and Luke Brossman; one great-great-granddaughter, Emarie; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
    Memorial services for Janet were held March 30 at Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lyndon United Methodist Preschool, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
