Northeastern expands mental health services for students

Northeastern Junior College has joined the JED Campus program in support of student well-being and mental health. The program is designed to identify opportunities to enhance emotional health, substance abuse and suicide prevention efforts on campus to ensure that schools have the strongest possible mental health safety nets.
By joining JED Campus, Northeastern demonstrates a commitment to the emotional well-being of its students. JED Campus schools embark on a multi-year strategic collaboration that not only assesses and enhances the work that is already being done, but also helps create positive, lasting and systemic change in the campus community.
JED Campus provides schools with a framework for supporting student mental health, as well as assessment tools, feedback reports and ongoing technical assistance from the JED Campus team of clinicians.
JED Campus grants a membership seal to all schools that participate in the program in recognition of the school’s commitment to student mental health.
“We are very excited to be working with the JED Campus. Northeastern has a long history of caring for our students and being committed to their well-being and development into successful citizens,” student guidance coordinator Cindy Carey said. “Northeastern believes that the student is the most important person on campus. Partnering with the JED Campus is an opportunity for us to enhance our services to students.”
