Colorado native Jason Hovey is taking over as CHS Agronomy’s new general manager, overseeing operations in Holyoke, Haxtun, Sterling, Wiggins, Brush, Otis and Yuma.
Hovey has spent 17 years working in the agriculture industry, and most recently worked as operations manager for CHS’ Sterling location.
The agronomy division of CHS handles fertilizer and crop chemical spraying in northeast Colorado.
Hovey said the most attractive part of working in the business is collaborating hands-on with farmers and other ag workers.
“I like being outdoors, working with growers and figuring out how to make their crops better,” Hovey said.
His interest in agronomy began while still a high schooler in his hometown of Montrose, where he interned with Colorado State University’s Extension program.
Hovey received his associate degree in ag business from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. He stayed in Sterling after graduation, working for CHS, where he assumed various managerial roles.
