Cheri Speidel

    Cheryl “Cheri” Lynn Speidel of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, died Sept. 22, 2018, after a several-months battle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Cheri was born Dec. 4, 1958, in Belle Fourche, the fourth of four children born to Gott­lieb and Rheba Speidel.
    The family began dairy farming in Spearfish, South Dakota, when she was small and moved to Newell, South Dakota, to continue farming in 1966. Cheri attended school in Newell, participating in band and other activities until the family moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, her junior year, where she graduated from high school and later Western Nebraska Community College with an LPN certification.
    She worked in that profession for many years in the area and later moved to Holyoke. Cheri then moved with her sons to Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada, for several years and then returned to Belle Fourche, where she had lived since.
    Cheri is survived by three sons, Anthony “Ace” Linne-Speidel and wife Heather of Holyoke, Tyrell Griffith and wife Allyssa of Devlin, Ontario, Canada, and Jay Rains of Holyoke; three granddaughters, Kayenna and Layla Griffith and Shiloh Linne-Speidel; sister, Karen Mosier and husband Jerry of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Tim Speidel and wife Paula of Belle Fourche; sister-in-law, Bonnie Speidel of Torrington, Wyoming; and two nieces and three nephews.
    Cheri was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Bill Speidel.
    Services will be held Monday, Oct. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.
    Memorials are suggested to the St. James Lutheran Church “deacons’ fund” or to the Belle Fourche Ambulance Service.
