State 4-H is in the books

   The annual State 4-H Conference was June 19-22 on Colorado State University’s campus in Fort Collins. Phillips County 4-H was represented by five members. These individuals spent the week competing in contests, attending workshops and senate meetings, and meeting other 4-H members from across the state of Colorado.  
    Kylie Donovan and Drew Stewart participated in the public speaking contest. Donovan spoke in the impromptu speech contest, where she earned reserve champion impromptu speaker. Stewart participated in the prepared speech division, earning seventh place in the contest.
    The livestock judging team, consisting of Donovan, Alex Vieselmeyer and Janessa Lutze, judged 12 classes of livestock (cattle, pigs, sheep and goats) and presented six sets of oral reasons to judges. While the team did not place in the top 10, they represented Phillips County well.
