Holyoke hosts annual honor band

Rescheduled from Jan. 22 due to weather, the 2018 annual Holyoke Honor Band was held March 26 at Holyoke High School. Students from 11 northeast Colorado schools gathered early Monday morning for an entire day of rehearsal before the performance at 6:30 p.m. in the HHS auditorium.
A total of 55 high school musicians qualified for the Holyoke Honor Wind Ensemble. That includes 15 HHS students. They were directed by Dr. Matthew Dockendorff, assistant director of bands at University of Colorado-Boulder.
Their pieces included “An American Heritage,” “Rippling Watercolors,” Different Voices” and “Danse Carnivale.”
Forty-one students were selected for the Holyoke Honor Concert Band (junior high), including 13 Holyoke  students.
