Giant map of Colorado travels to Holyoke

Social studies students in third and fourth grades at Holyoke Elementary School got to participate in giant map activities Tuesday, Feb. 13. Activities included lessons on land forms, elevation, rivers, the Continental Divide, population, national and state parks, economy and Colorado history led by their teacher. The vinyl floor map, which measures 14 feet by 21 feet, traveled to five different schools in Northeastern BOCES the week of Feb. 12. It is designed to encourage geographic learning through physical movement and games, teaching place names, physical geography and cultural geography as well as map-reading skills. Students participating in one of the many activities are pictured from left, Mason Sprague, Jeylin Dominguez, Evan Widler, Ellie Kleve and Jassmin Montes.
