Compassionate care, trust in new MMH mission

“The Melissa Memorial Hospital family delivers compassionate care nurturing trust with those we serve.”
It’s short, it’s simple, it’s impactful. It’s the new mission statement adopted for MMH by the East Phillips County Hospital District Board at its Jan. 23 meeting.
Prior to adoption, board members tweaked mission statement options presented by committee members Trampas Hutches, Megan Sprague, Angela Powell, Elizabeth Hutches, Tim Johnson, Melissa Bosworth, Eva Penzing and Diana Baeza.

Greenman, Banaka recognized
Just prior to Tuesday night’s business meeting, Shining Star awards were presented to Sharon Greenman and Christina Banaka for their contribution in putting the Kronos payroll system together.
CEO Trampas Hutches noted that Kronos, which was rolled out in mid-December, has proven to be a great tool. In the payroll system, it can track overtime and allocation of hours to certain tasks and is overall more intuitive.
In recognizing the two staff members, Hutches cited Greenman’s outstanding leadership for providing thoughtful guidance and inspiring excellence, and he mentioned Banaka’s dedication and achievement in helping transition to the Kronos system.
CFO Wes White added his congratulatory words, noting there was multiple testing of payrolls, and the awards for Greenman and Banaka are well-deserved.

3 new positions filled
Three new positions have been filled at MMH, and Hutches elaborated on the new hires.
Fabian Basurto has been hired as electronic health record support specialist. This position will have a lot of implications on everyone’s workflows, explained Hutches.
He added that Athena brings the best technology and software assisted health care delivery in the industry. MMH wants to be able to use the numerous Athena tools to the best of its ability.
Basurto’s most recent stint was at the Naval Hospital in Sigonella, Italy, where he conducted instructor-led and on-the-job training for 520 EHR clinical end users.
Elizabeth Hutches started her position as public affairs specialist Jan. 22. She will be responsible for the MMH story, internal and external relations, communications, public information officer during disasters, marketing, events, awards/recognition and more.
Cindy Lock will return to MMH in the new position of wound care nurse, starting Feb. 14. Trampas Hutches noted that since they’ve moved the wound care to the specialty clinic and focused on it being a service line, it has grown to 75-100 visits a month. Lock will be responsible for the care and coordination of this service line.
