Child development lessons utilized for Veterans Day

    The Holyoke High School child development class, taught by Karen Ortner, had the opportunity to put their lessons to work last week, as they led kindergarten and second-grade students in Veterans Day-themed activities.
    On Nov. 9, they worked with kindergartners, with Dominique Penzing and Rebecca Owens teaching the story of Veterans Day and a poem about poppies, which led to coloring poppy worksheets.
    Diana Gonzalez and Lauren Bergner led classes in creating paper American flags with the proper number of stars and stripes. Each kindergartner wrote something they were thankful for on a star before taping it to the flag.
