Decorated bras raise money, awareness

    Sixteen departments at Melissa Memorial Hospital decorated bras to raise money and awareness throughout October. Community members made a donation for the opportunity to vote for a favorite, and the winning bra was decorated by Jennifer Wernsman from the IT department.
    Decorated as a flowery butterfly wreath, the entry also featured the following sentiment: “Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness yet become something beautiful. Supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honoring the taken, and never, ever giving up hope.”
    Second place was the pharmacy department’s bra, decorated with pink ruffles and a heart breast cancer pendant. Coming in third was the night nurses’ bra that read “save 2nd base” and was decorated with a baseball theme.
