Serrato student teaching in Holyoke

    Students, especially those in fifth and sixth grade, have been seeing a new face around Holyoke Elementary School since the beginning of the 2017-18 school year. Tanner Serrato will be spending the first eight weeks student teaching in Sam Distefano’s class and will move to Kari Sandquist’s first-grade class for the second quarter.
    By the end of December, he will have finished the final requirement of his undergraduate studies at Chadron State College and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
    Serrato, who is a 2013 graduate of Fleming High School, is no stranger to the area. In his sophomore year at Chadron, he completed a classroom observation requirement at Holyoke Elementary. The two and half days he spent in Cynthia Bahler’s kindergarten classroom were enough to convince him to return. Holyoke was his first choice for student teaching because of the experience.
