Make plans to enter Phillips County Fair quilt show

High Plains Heritage Quilters is assisting with the 2017 Phillips County Fair quilt show and is encouraging all quilters to participate in this year’s competition.

Quilts can be entered Wednesday, July 26, from 1-6 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center.

Judging is Thursday, July 27, at 9 a.m. in the Biesemeier Room. The open judging will be done by a certified Colorado Quilt Council judge.

Quilts should be picked up Sunday, July 30, from 1-3 p.m.

In addition to the categories traditionally at the Phillips County Fair quilt show, Creative Traditions quilt shop will be sponsoring a special themes contest with the theme “Basically Batiks.” Quilts can be any size, and 75 percent of the quilt must be batiks. Gift certificates will be awarded for first, second and third. For more info, call Creative Traditions at 970-854-3699.

Additionally, Colorado Quilt Council is sponsoring a category called “First Time Competition Entry.” Piecing and quilting must be done by the quilter. There are two divisions for youth and adult with cash prizes for winners.

For more information on the quilt show, contact Ronda Fetzer at 970-774-7349 or Kris Fulscher at 970-854-3444.
