Pipeline gets path forward
STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, March 1 — BNN Western LLC will be installing a water pipeline from North Sterling Reservoir to the oil and gas fields of eastern Weld County. Logan County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the 17-mile 22-inch pipeline; it will connect with pipeline in Weld County for a 38-mile total pipeline.
The pipeline will be built and owned by BNN, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tallgrass Energy. The project would lease up to 6,800 acre feet of water to BNN. The plan calls for BNN to hook a pipeline directly to one of North Sterling Reservoir’s outlet pipes and pump the water into the drilling field. The water will be used for hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas wells.

City agrees to sponsor “5:10 to Yuma”
THE YUMA PIONEER, March 2 — The Yuma City Council learned about the “5:10 to Yuma” road race during last week’s regular meeting.
West Yuma County Chamber of Commerce Director Alice Metzler was at the forefront of discussions about the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer race she is proposing becoming an annual event. The inaugural race is set for June 17.
Metzler came to the council in part requesting the City of Yuma be the “presenting sponsor” for $8,000 for the inaugural event.
Metzler, who became Chamber director late last year, gave some background on herself, explaining that for 10 years she worked for the Bolder Boulder, so road races are close to her heart.

STERLING JOURNAL-ADVOCATE, Feb. 27 — Michael Foster has heard all of the jokes about establishing a northeast Colorado “Duck Dynasty.” And he laughs good-naturedly because that’s the kind of guy he is. In fact, his disarming smile and confident but unassuming demeanor are the first things one notices about him.
But make no mistake — this Caliche High School junior has some serious plans for the future. In his plain, corn-fire-heated shop, he turns out custom duck, goose and coyote calls at a steady rate and plows the proceeds back into his startup company, Foster Calls.
